가끔 길거리에서 마주치는 도둑 고양이들. 갑자기 멈춰서선 왠지 모르게 나를 경계하는 듯한.. '뭘 쳐다보냐'라고 물어보듯 빤히 쳐다보더라. 그리곤 난 아무짓도 안했는데 관심없다는듯 흥-하고 고개를 돌리며 순식간에 사라져 버리지. 고양이.. 나도 참 좋아해. 이 '고양이 전사들'이라는 책은.. 이전에 포스팅했던 '나는 고양이로소이다'와 같이 나른하고 해학적인.. 그런 것과는 많이 달라. 야성적이고 절도가 있으며.. 고양이들과의 사투..아니 결투라고 하는게 더 어울릴 것 같은데..음! 아무튼 상당히 '야생고양이'스럽다고 해야하나..아무튼 그런 책이야.

"세상에서 내가 제일 싫어하는 게 애완동물이 되는 거라구! 두 발 달린 동물들의 장난감이지. 음식 같지도 않은 거나 먹고, 모래 상자 안에서 진흙놀이나 하고, 두 발 달린 동물들이 허락할 때만 밖으로 코를 내미는 인생을 나보고 살란 말이야? 그건 사는 게 아니야! 이곳에서는 무엇이든 마음대로 할 수 있어. 모든 것이 자유로워! 원하는 곳이면 언제 어디든 갈 수 있지!"
그는 말을 마치더니 자랑스럽게 가르랑거렸다. 그리고 장난기 가득한 표정으로 물었다.
"갓 잡은 쥐를 맛보기 전까지는 살아도 산다고 말할 수 없어. 쥐를 먹어 본 적이 있어?"
"아니. 아직." 러스티는 약간 머뭇거렸지만 솔직하게 말했다.
"너는 절대 이해하지 못할 거야. 너는 야생에서 태어나지 않았으니까. 그것은 큰 차이지. 몸속에 전사의 피가 흘러야 해. 아니면 수염에서 바람을 느낄 수 있든가. 두 발 달린 동물의 집에서 태어난 고양이들은 절대로 이해할 수 없어." - '고양이 전사들' 본문 -

이 이야기는 애완고양이였던.. '러스티'라는 고양이가 야생고양이. 즉, 천둥족의 일원이 되면서 시작되는데... 고양이들은 그림자족, 강족, 바람족, 천둥족.. 이렇게 각각의 부족을 이루며 살고 있어. 그 부족들의 구성도 나름대로 잘 만들었더라구. 물론 실제로도 고양이들이 부족을 이루며 종족번영을 추구하는지.. 그건 잘 모르겠지만 말야. 난 신화를 참 즐겨 읽었었어. 갑자기 왠 신화냐구..? 이 '고양이 전사들'이라는 책은.. 어떻게 보면 '영웅신화'랑 많이 흡사한 것 같아서 말이야. 아더왕이라거나 지그프리드라거나.. 헤르보르같은.. 뭔가 영웅적인..! 고양이한테 영웅이니 뭐니 하는 것도 웃길지도 모르지만.. 정말로 영웅서사시 같더라니까..! 나태해진 우리, '두 발 달린 동물'에 대한 고양이들의 외침을 느낄 수 있다고나 할까. 그렇게 푹- 빠질 정도의 이야기는 아니였지만 읽으면 재밌다는 정도..? 결론은.. 자연을 사랑하자아~!

과거는 과거일 뿐 모든 판단은 상황에 맞게 내려야 한다. 모든 고양이는 살아남을 권리가 있으므로 불필요한 전투는 벌이지 않는다. 너는 너의 의지로 이곳까지 왔으니 너의 믿음이 네게 필요한 힘을 줄 것이다.

예전에 '나쓰메 소세키'의 또 다른 책인 '도련님'을 본 적이 있다. 그 책을 보면서.. 소소한 부분부분을 참 잘 적는구나-라고 생각했었다. 뭔가 큰 감동이 있는 그런 책과는 달리 자그마하게 웃음을 자아내는 그런 책이었다. 덕분에 이 작가의 다른 책도 읽고 싶어졌고, 근래 서점에 들렸을 때 눈에 뛴 이 책을.. 몇장 넘겨보지도 않고 덥썩 집어들고 말았다. 제목이 참 마음에 들었다. '나는 고양이로소이다'. 분명 책을 넘겨보지 않아도, 고양이가 이 책의 화자임에 퍼뜩 알아챌 수 있었다. 왠지 모르게 그런 '고양이'가 주인공이라는 점에 있어서 이 책이 더욱 마음에 들었다. 개인적으로 고양이를 좋아하는 것도 있었겠지만.. 이렇게 진지하게(?) 고양이가 화자가 되었던 책은 한번도 읽어본 적이 없어서.. 더욱 끌렸던 것 같다.

주인공인 고양이가 태어나서 어떤 선생의 집에서 살게 되면서.. 일어나는, 그런 전개라고나 할까. 고양이의 주인은 중학교 선생인 '쿠샤미'라는 작자인데, 상당히 태평스럽고 안일한 캐릭터로 나온다. 또 이 쿠샤미라는 작자가 얼마나 무신경한지.. 그의 고양이 이름도 지어줄 생각도 안하더라. 그래서 주인공인 고양이는 '이름없는 고양이'인 셈이다. 그리고 이 선생 '쿠샤미'는 친구가 있지도 않은 말을 지어내서 그럴듯 하게 말해도 '쿠샤미'는 '오-정말 그는 멋진 말을 했군'이라며 고개를 주억거리기도 한다. 그에게도 여러 친구가 있는데.. 이런 태평한 사람과 친구인걸 보면, 아마 그 친구들도 태평스럽긴 마찬가지인 듯 싶다.

이 책에 등장하는 고양이들은 하나같이 뭔가 재미있다. 주인공 고양이는 얼마나 똑똑한지 주인이 쓰는 글이나 하는 말도 다 알아듣는다. 다른 사람들에게는 자신의 위선, 가식, 허위를 숨길 수 있을지 몰라도 이 고양이에게는 전혀 숨길 수가 없다. 그게 이 소설의 재미있는 점이라고 할 수 있다.   고양이는 그런 그들의 말과 행동 등을 자세히 관찰하고, 비판하고, 조롱한다.

뭔가 읽다가 보면 일본의 만담-같은 느낌이 상당히 많이 든다. 책의 전체 분위기가 그렇다는게 아니라 왠지 고양이가 이말 저말- 장황하게 말하는걸 보면 '이 녀석 만담꾼이였나'라고 느낄때도 있었다. 무엇보다 이런 고양이의 시선에서 나도 모르게 피식-웃으면서 공감하는걸 보면 참 재밌는 고양이 인 것 같다.

태어날 땐 아무도 잘 생각해보고 태어나는 사람은 없습니다만, 죽을 땐 누구나 괴로워하는 것 같네요. 돈을 꿀 때엔 별 생각 없이 꾸지만, 돌려줄 땐 모두가 걱정하는 것과 똑같지 뭐

결론은, '고양이전'에서 책 제목 바꾼건 참 잘한 일인 것 같다....(매출 급상승!)

There is something so inherently gross about watching an half-naked, very oil/blubbery jack black getting his ass pummeled by a muscular giant in golden underwear over golden tights. even more gross, the muscular man has smooth armpits, shaved clean free of hair, no less.

How you feel about this films(Nacho Libre, 2006) depends on how you feel about Jack Black. His fans will love it... If you can’t stand his mugging and showing off, stay away. Ultimately, it’s a well put together film with a simple story that doesn’t stray from any narrative paths. The cast of grotesques and weirdos perform well and Black is – for those who like his style – funny and likeable.It’s an entertaining, disposable comedy, a film that aims to break no boundaries, just to make you laugh while you’re in the cinema. Refreshing, but ultimately unmemorable.

'The Black Heart Gang'이라는 그룹에서 제작한 'The Tale of How'라는 오디오북. 어떤 그룹인지는 잘 모르겠지만 상당히 실력있는 그룹인가보다. 어떤 부분에 있어선 이런 그룹이 상당히 부럽게만 느껴진다. 물론 지금의 난 이렇게 뛰어난 실력도 없지만, 이런 애니메이션을 제작한다는 것.. 뭔가 새로운걸 창작해 낸다는 것. 그런 활동자체가 부러운 것 같다. 무엇보다 정말 동화같은, 그러니까 몽환적이라고 해야하나? 아무튼 그런 분위기가 참 맘에 든다.

스탑모션으로 만들었다는 비디오 애니메이션. 이런 그림체를 워낙에 좋아하는 면도 있지만, 이걸 제작한 사람은 정말 대단하다는 생각이 절로 든다. 필자도 적당한 작업환경만 주어진다면 한번 도전해보고 싶기도..다만 중요한건 화이트보드가 없다는 것...?

Bring the pixels to the real world and add some originality to your walls. Pixelnotes is a wallpaper consisting of four layers of varying grey tones on a bright primary backing. 벽에다 포스트잇을 잔뜩 붙여서 거대한 픽셀모양의 벽지로 만들었다고 하네요. 의외로 상당히 이쁩니다. 거기다 특별히 손이 많이 타는 벽이 아니라면 더욱 더 좋을 듯 한데요? 간단한 메모나 가족들에게 남길 메세지나, 회사에선 '관리만 잘 된다면' 부서별로 작은 공간에 이렇게 꾸며서 알림글 정도로 써도 좋을 것 같아요. 문제는 벽이 조금 넓은 편이라면 포스트잇이 상당히 많이 든다는 점이고, 또 오래 쓰다보면 많이 쓴 곳과 적게 쓴 곳에 굴곡이 생겨서 들쭉날쭉-할지두. 나두 거실 옆에 남는 벽에 이렇게 만들어 볼까? -이거 의외로 너무 이쁘잖아!-

Assassin’s Creed is a fun and exciting action game which features a beautifully structured game world. Everything in the world, from the civilians roaming around the towns to the birds flying about the sky feels so alive which the chatters and twittering of birds clearly heard depending on where you are at. It also features free-form travels which allows the exploration of any part of the world or town (except for the first few chapters where certain parts are restricted).
In Assassin’s Creed, you’ll play as Altair, an assassin extraordinaire, who is given a task by the master of the brotherhood to assassinate nine individuals in order to redeem yourself from your previous mistakes. While carrying out these tasks, you’ll be exploring 3 major cities of the Holy Land in the 12th century: Jerusalem, Damascus and Acre. Each city has its own unique design and all are filled with citizens which are busy with their everyday chores. You’ll be encountering citizens bargaining for goods at the bazaar, women carrying jugs on their heads, orators delivering their political and religious speech, as well as citizens getting harassed by guards as you are walking through the streets. While rushing through the streets may be a more acceptable way of traveling, Altair can also use the rooftops of the buildings to get from one place to another. However, some of the rooftops are guarded by archers and they dislike your presence there and will ask you to leave. At that point you can make a choice on whether to continue on or leave the rooftops and get back to the streets.

Iive always stayed away from games considered scary. I've never understood why people want the life frightened out of them but then again I've never understood a lot of things. L4D however is a game I had to try out because I wanted something new to play, the demo is now available for all to play and it’s from Valve what more could you want? All in all it’s a great game and despite the hoards of zombies this game isn’t that scary. It’s just plain fun. So if you’re sitting at home and have the urge to kill something then this game is one of the titles where you can kill things, lots of things.
